Shallow boxes have the same lid dimensions as the standard oval box sizes but have lower sides with only a single finger joint. The lids are veneered with bird’s eye maple, which has a highly figured grain and is renown for its great beauty. After a final sanding the boxes are given two coats of non-toxic Danish oil and polished by hand with beeswax.
